Silence weekend in the Netherlands

A beautiful silence weekend that fulfils a desire for rest, deepening and relaxation. With hatha yoga, amazing meditations and you can do some nice silent hiking in the beautiful neighbourhood, to the river or the forest.

For whom are these silent weekends?

A silent weekend is particularly supportive if you have a burnout, if you notice that you are too busy or if you worry too much or have trouble slowing down your thoughts.

Also if you are just fine, but you like deepening in the splendid rest of the silence, then these are the weekends for you.

Do I need experience with silence retreats?

To participate, you do not need to have experience with silence retreats. If you do, the whole weekend can feel like a warm bath of comfort, in which you do not need to talk and your thoughts can slow down. If you have no prior experience in silence retreats, it can be that you need to get used to it first and that the silence will first five you more thoughts/ that it feels a little uncomfortable what to do if you do not speak, but soon you will notice that the ‘not allowed to talk’ will transform into a ‘not having to talk’. Then you will experience a really deep rest and relaxation. It is the best holiday for the mind

How severe is the silence in this weekend?

It is expected that you do not talk to your co-participants, nor make non-verbal contact. As a result, you can totally focus on yourself. But in case you need anything, you can always write a note for me and I will try to arrange what you need.

Next to that, in the afternoon we have meditations. Then, there is also space and time for a short sharing about how you feel and for questions.

Besides, in the morning there is mantra-chanting for those who like that, from 8 till 8:30. Because this is a really nice way to start the day and brings a deepening of the silence of the rest of the day.

What is the programme?

Friday 20 uur – Sunday 17 uur
We start Fridayevening at 20 uur with an introduction and after that, we are entering the silence with some relaxed yoga poses and breathing meditations.
Saturday and Sunday we chant mantras from 8 till 8:30, followed by breakfast. At 10:30 you are welcome to join a hatha yoga session till 12. You can join these lessons at your own level (no strength, flexibility or age demands).
We lunch around 12:30.
Everyone does 45 minutes of karma yoga on Saturday and Sunday: cleaning or helping in the kitchen. Most tasks are after lunch, but some at another time. This helping is also done mindful and in silence.
Between 14 and 15:30 you can hike, or take a rest. At 15:30 there is a short sharing round and we will do diverse forms of silent meditations till 17. 
On Saturday, around 18 we have diner and at 20 there is an evening programme with relaxed yoga poses and breathing meditations.

When can I do a silence weekend?

Good to know:

* The meals are vegetarian and organic where available. There is always tea and fruit available in between the meals.
